Notes:
On February 24
th, 2022 Russian army invaded
Ukraine territory and currently bombing peaceful cities and
killing civilians all over the territory of Ukraine.
Please think twice if you want to buy anything from Russia,
even some stamps or covers, and indirectly support their aggression against Ukraine, free and independent European country.

Russian aggression through Philately.
I'm,
Michael Kogan admin and owner of this website, call all my visitors from around the world to boycott Russia -
don't give your money to the country to kill Ukrainian citizens and destroy Ukrainian cities.

Aleksander Piotr Czekanowski
(12 February 1833 – 30 October 1876) was a Polish geologist, paleontologist and explorer of Siberia.
After graduating in 1857 he returned to Kiev where he started working at Siemens and Halske, which was
at the time engaged in the construction of a telegraph line from Russia to India.
The work was involved frequent trips which gave him the opportunity to conduct scientific research.
In addition to his main work,
he also systematised the paleontological collections of the University of Kiev,
Ukraine.

[2] One of the stamps from the "World Environment Day: Geoparks of Greece" set
shows some trunks of petrified trees from Lesvos Petrified Forest.
[3] In 2022, Suriname issued more than 120 stamps, including the dinosaur stamps.
These stamps were issued in the Mini-Sheets of 2 sets: tow rows with flipped stamps.
The total face value of the stamps set is 316.50SRD equivalent to €11 about.
It seems too expensive for such poor country as Suriname, with Per capita of US $8,323 about.
Moreover, any fossils of the dinosaurs depicted on the stamps were found in Suriname:
- Brachiosaurus - fossils of the genus have been found in North America
- Stegosaurus - fossils of the genus have been found in the western United States and in Portugal
- Triceratops - fossils of the genus have been found USA and Canada
- Tyrannosaurus Rex - fossils of the genus have been found western North America
- Velociraptor - fossils of the genus have been found in Mongolia and China

[SP1] There are 12 stickers and 12 $1.10 MyStamps in this licensed stamp pack,
which focuses on Jurassic World: Dominion, the next chapter in one of the biggest franchises in the history of cinema.
The film again stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who are joined by Academy Award® winner Laura Dern,
Golden Globe nominee Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum, who reprise their roles as Dr Ellie Sattler,
Dr Alan Grant and Dr Ian Malcolm, and an impressive international cast.
[SP2] To celebrate both the movie Jurassic World and Australia Post Collecting
Month Australian Post released a licensed stamp pack that contains 12 $1.10 self-adhesive MyStamps,
featuring ferociously exciting dinosaurs such as
Triceratops and
T. Rex, and presenting stats for each.
[SP3] On September 11, 2022 UNESCO Global Geopark Thuringia Inselsberg – Drei Gleichen,
in cooperation with Arbeitsgemeinschaft Bergbau und Geowissenschaften e. V.,
(Mining and Geosciences Working Group), issued the Mini-Sheet of 10 personalized stamps
("Briefmarken individuell" of Deutsche Post).
These stamps were issued in th occasion of 20
th anniversary of the Geopark.
Every stamp have unique design related to the Geopark.
Although the UNESCO Global Geopark Thuringia Inselsberg – Drei Gleichen is one of the smaller
German geoparks with an area of about 700 km2, it is a place where big things happened in the past:
here you can explore Pangaea, the supercontinent which existed for around 100 million years.
You can also get to know some of the inhabitants of this continent, the tetrapods, on the
Sauria Discovery Trail for example.

[O1] This year the Post Authority of Monaco dedicate two stamps to Prince Albert I.
- February 2nd - "Admission Of The Prince Albert I To The Institut De France".
On 29 March 1909, Prince Albert I was admitted to the Institut de France as a foreign
associate member of the Paris Academy of Sciences.
The stamp was issued on the date on which a multidisciplinary symposium
opened in Monaco on the theme
“The careers of a Prince: lives and lands of Albert I of Monaco (1848 - 1922)”.
The Institut de France will hold a series of lectures on 29 March 2022 as part of its annual cycle.
- February 26th - "Centenary Of The Speech On The Ocean From Prince Albert I".
On 25 April 1921, Prince Albert I gave his Speech on the Ocean at the Smithsonian Museum in the USA,
in front of the members of the Washington Academy of Sciences.
It was a visionary speech, predicting some of the problems that affect the oceans today,
such as the overexploitation of resources caused by new technology – at the time represented by
steam trawlers.
During this trip, Prince Albert I was awarded the Agassiz Medal in honour of his significant
contribution to oceanography.
Prince Albert I was interested not only in oceanography, but also in the origins of man.
He founded the "Institute for Human Paleontology" (IPH) in Paris that was responsible for a number of archeological digs.
The first scientific establishment of this type in the world, the IPH, situated in Paris,
came into being in 1910 under the patronage of Prince Albert I.
Establishment of the Institute was the result of Prince Albert I meeting with two of the most
famous founders of contemporary prehistoric archaeology, Professor Marcellin Boule and Abbe Henri Breuil.
[O2] Geologically, Monument Valley is a combination of rock layers formed during the
Permian and Triassic Periods several hundred million years ago that have been subjected to differential
erosion (by which hard rocks erode more slowly than soft rocks).
The results can be quite complex and stunningly beautiful.
The first time Permian vertebrae remains of prehistoric animals who lived on the territory of
Monument Valley more than 300 million years ago, were reported in 1936.

[O3] Two stamps from the "Our Beautiful Continent" stamps set of
Australia
can be considered as stamps with fossil sites landscapes..
The Flinders Ranges is a semi-arid mountainous landscape. It has rich biodiversity and
an exceptional geological record of the dawn of animal life on Earth.
The Gondwana Rainforests are so-named because the fossil record indicates that
when Gondwana (ancient continent) existed it was covered by rainforests containing the same kinds
of species that are living today.

[O4] "120
th Anniversary of The Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology".
Following the Grimaldi cave digs (1895-1902) which he ordered and funded, Prince Albert I founded in the Museum of Prehistoric
Anthropology in 1902, on the site of the former Government building, to preserve and display all of the finds unearthed in a
single location.
In 1959, the Museum moved to a new building in the Exotic Garden.
The collections displayed tell the story of the major milestones in the evolution of humanity, through the
glacial and interglacial periods.
Attached to the Government and supported by an international scientific panel, the Museum’s
team conducts archaeological digs and laboratory research, and publishes scientific articles,
in addition to organising exhibitions and mediation activities.

[O7] ] Emil Racovita (1868-1947) was a Romanian biologist, zoologist, speleologist
and explorer of Antarctica.
On the stamp of the issue with the face value of Lei 10, the portrait of the scientist at the age
of adulthood is illustrated in the foreground, and on the background the ship of the Belgica Expedition,
anchored between the shores of Antarctica.
On the stamp with the value of Lei 10.50, the portrait of the scientist Emil Racoviță at the age of
senescence is reproduced, and in the background a image specific to caves.
Together with Grigore Antipa, Racovita was one of the most noted promoters of the natural sciences in Romania.
Racovita was the first Romanian to have gone on a scientific research expedition to the Antarctic,
more than 100 years ago, as well as an influential professor, scholar and researcher.
He found and described several fossils in caves he was observing, for example Ursilor Cave which is
depicted on stamp of 2011.

-
Akal Fossil Wood Park, Jaisalmer.
The 21 hectare Fossil Park contains about a dozen fossil wood logs lying horizontal in random orientation.
This park is situated in the western part of Rajasthan, near Jaisalmer, a part of the Thar Desert.
During the Lower Jurassic period (180 million years ago) the area was bordering the sea and covered with
luxuriant forests in a warm and humid climate.
Commemorative postmark depicts star fish recover from fort member Jaisalmer formation.
-
Stromatolite Park, Bhojunnda, Chittofarh.
Excellent stromatolites of different species are exposed within the massive Bhagwanpura Limestone of the
Lower Vindhyan age (1600 million years ago), around Bojunda in Chittorgarh District, Rajasthan.
Stromatolites are structures produced by blue-green algae, which through their filaments, attract and bond
carbonate particles forming a mat.
They are stratiform, columnar and nodular structures in carbonate rocks resulting from the combination of life activity and
sediment trapping and binding ability of algal assemblages and preying bacteria.
Commemorative postmark depicts plant fossil.
-
Barr Conglomerate, Pali.
The Barr Conglomerate is composed of pebbles of quartzite and rarely granite gneiss, set up in a fine grained pelitic matrix.
Conglomerates are important in geology as they aid in subdividing geologic history on the basis of sedimentary breaks.
Commemorative postmark depicts tertiary fossils of Himalaya.
-
Stromatolite Park, Jhamarkotra, Udaipur.
Jhamarkotra Stromatolite Park is the largest & richest deposit of phosphorite associated with stromatolite.
Stromatolites are structures produced by blue-green algae, which through their filaments, attract and bond
carbonate particles forming a mat.
The stromatolites occur over a strike length of 15 km in rock phosphate within Precambrian Aravalli Supergroup of rocks.
On account of its crocodile Skin like appearance, local people call it 'Magar Machhi Bhata'.
Commemorative postmark depicts Gondwana plant fossils.
