On July 15, 2010, five stamps in two mini-sheets were issued by Togo’s Post Authority. These stamps depict Charles Darwin and various dinosaurs in the background. Dinosaur paleontology was not a major interest of Charles Darwin’s.
Moreover, most species depicted on the stamps were discovered many years after Charles Darwin died in 1882: Tyrannosaurus was discovered in 1905, Zuniceratops in 1996, and Muttaburrasaurus in 1987.
Only Stegosaurus and Archaeopteryx were known when Charles Darwin was alive.
It is hard to believe that any of these stamps were required for postal uses of this country. You can see the flood of these minisheets from this country on PostBeeld and Neofila sites.
